The Story Behind Catmer
OurStory
When we started Catmer, we weren’t experts, just two friends who loved the idea of creating something meaningful.
We didn’t grow up with cats, and we
definitely didn’t know much about feline nutrition.But somewhere along
the way, what began as a small business idea turned into a lifelong
mission built on compassion, honesty, and responsibility.
We’re Abdulla Al Marzooqi and Mohammed Al Hammadi, the founders of Catmer.
In the beginning, we sold imported cat food that everyone claimed was “organic” and “healthy.”
Sales were growing fast, subscriptions were strong, and everything looked right, until one question changed everything.
Before approving one of our ads, a UAE pet community asked us to share our ingredients.
We sent them confidently, and their reply was simple but unforgettable: “This is commercial food. The ingredients aren’t healthy. Go learn it yourself.” That message was the wake-up call we needed. We realized that we didn’t just sell products, we were responsible for lives. So we stopped. We reached out to a certified feline nutritionist, to understand what real feline nutrition means. It was supposed to be just a collaboration, but after reviewing our ingredients,
she told us something we’ll never forget:
“These souls are a trust. I can’t promote this.”
That moment became our turning point. We decided to rebuild Catmer from scratch, with integrity at its core. We visited more than 22 factories, refusing to work with any that wouldn’t commit to transparency.
Most told us the same thing:
“Write whatever you want on the label. What’s inside isn’t your concern.”
But we kept going until we found one that agreed to help us create a truly healthy, premium formula, even if it cost more. Every ingredient is now tested twice, once at the factory, and again in the UAE, to guarantee safety and honesty. At first, we worried if cats would love the new formula, or if pet parents would give us another chance. But when the first feedback arrived, those fears disappeared. Cats thrived on our food, and cat parents could see the difference. We returned to the same pet community that once turned us away, and this time, they welcomed us back.
The words that mean the most to us came from them:
“You’re a brand that fears God. Honest and transparent.”
Catmer began as a business but became a responsibility, a journey of learning, compassion, and trust. And this is only the beginning.
